Bamboo disposable chopsticks refer to chopsticks that are discarded after being used once, also known as "bamboo sanitary chopsticks" and "instant chopsticks". The consumption of various types of wooden chopsticks in the Chinese market is very huge, including 45 billion pairs of disposable wooden chopsticks every year (about 1.66 million cubic meters of wood). Every 5000 pairs of wooden disposable chopsticks will consume a poplar that has grown for 30 years. The national production of disposable wooden chopsticks will consume more than 100 mu of forest every day, with a total of 36000 Mu a year. Moreover, inferior wooden chopsticks are not clean, but give people an illusion of hygiene.
Disposable bamboo chopsticks are more and more widely used because they are made of renewable bamboo, which is economical and environmental friendly. China also uses the preferential policy of export tax rebate to encourage the export of disposable bamboo chopsticks instead of disposable wooden chopsticks, so as to reduce the use of wood and protect the forest.
